Through a project RWA 075 ’’Empowering the Batwa Community in Cyangugu Catholic Diocese’’, CDJP CYANGUGU in collaboration with Caritas Scotland is supporting more than nine hundred and eighty-five (985) pupils in primary , seventy (70) pupils in secondary school and two (2) Students at university level ( AYINKAMIYE Claudine and MUSABYIMANA Francine). They were receiving the pupils’ school materials, uniforms, pupils’ bags for those who succeed at high scores, school fees for pupils in secondary studies and tuition fees to those in university level.
During November 2022, we are doing the follow-up visit for the pupils at schools. On 23rd and 24th , we visited the pupils at a school in RASANO Parish. It’s one among 21 parishes of CYANGUGU Catholic Diocese. All the visiting pupils were very delighted and appreciated the support given from CDJP . They are promising to actively perform and participate in schools or societies. They say that their families’ poverty and attitudes did not allow them to benefit from the quality of education. They are very thankful to Caritas Scotland (SCIAF) donation through CDJP Cyangugu, nowadays they are learning safely.

CDJP Cyangugu is extremely appreciative of SCIAF in this program which promotes marginalized Batwa Members since 2014; we are resulting positive changes of the members in the societies. In addition in this school year 2022-2023, seven (7) students who passed with high marks at National examination 2021-2022, are in excellent school (boarding schools) where they were accommodated.
The following photos are for the pupils studying at GS BWEYEYE RI, these five are in secondary and (23) primary school. The others photos are for the pupils who received school’s uniforms at NYAMASHEKE parish and who received school materials and uniforms at HANIKA parish at the beginning of school year 2022-2023.
